When I first moved to the city, there was a Peter Beard exhibition in Soho. Seeing it was a revelation. Primarily because I was familiar with his work and did not realize it. But the real shock was they had some of his notebooks which fail to be described. And photos do not convey the immensity and weight that they possess. I spent many attempts to recreate (in a fashion) something similar, with little success. Since then I have had the great pleasure of installing many of Beard's works and I must say some are quite heavy. And best of all Taschen released this awesome two volume set of his work just a few years ago (a must for any fan).
